warning: this ain't gonna be pretty!

So far lookin' foxy has been harder than I anticipated. Turns out I don't really have many casual clothes that I would consider foxy... So, here's what I wore last week.

Monday:  Workin' the hand-me-down shirt and "jorts." (jean shorts) Drew HATES my jorts.

Tuesday: I wore this exact outfit when I was 9 months prego with this lil guy. Time for a wardrobe update!

Wednesday: This one's ok but no effort or thought was required.

Thursday: Yep, those are stretch pants. So not hot. Plus, no make-up.

Friday: Note to self...these jeans do not make you look as thin as you think.

Saturday: still in Friday's hair..bleh

I will say that I actually did look pretty cute on Sunday but alas it is not pictured. I DEFINITELY need to up my game around here!

A smattering of goodness!!!

Ok, ok so I only read 1 book this month. Get off my back! It was The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks  and it was great! (even if Miley Cyrus was on the cover)

But, hubby and I did embark on the adventure of reading the Old Testament a couple weeks ago  and we've made it through Genesis already! (So, that's technically a book right?) It's a lot less boring than I thought! So far it's been full of murder, scandal and intrigue.  And I have learned that, sadly, people today aren't so very different than people waaaayyy back then. The only down side has been that all the songs from Joseph and the Amazing Techni-Color Dream Coat have been stuck in our heads for like a week now!

So, that's a wrap on the July project "Reading Good Books" and we're on to August!

***********************************

My happiness project for the month of August is going to be "Looking Foxy!" I really need this one right about now because the messy, snot covered, make-up-less, bun rockin wife that my husband comes home to everyday is sad and pathetic! Not to mention I just feel better when I actually make an effort to look presentable.

So, the goals for the month are:

1. Do my hair and make-up everyday.

2. Wear something other than grubby tee-shirts more often than not.

3. Document my outfits in pictures to track my success and share the fun!

(yeah, he comes home to the one on the left every day. SCARY!!!!)

ONE MORE THING!!!  (I know right?!? But this is a GOOD one.)

This week is Confessions Week over at Windy Poplars! If you haven't met her via blog land, you are missing out on  one of the sweetest souls you'll ever  know!
Everyday this week I'll share a little something about myself that maybe you didn't know! Pop on over and join the fun!

Windy Poplars

My confession for today...

I never take off my old toenail polish...I just paint over it! Mwahahahahahah!

June June June

So for June's Project I have decided to go with Hanging Out With Friends!

I'm celebrating the beginning of this awesome month by showing off some of my very favorite lovelies!!!

Starting with this one!

Dear, sweet, chocolate covered
Shelley. What would my life be without you? Who would give me motivation to workout or help me learn to cook organically? (We are so doing that btw.) I love being your bestie!

Jenn beast. Jenn Beast.
Jenn Beast. The original beast in my heart! You can put a smile on my face any day, any time! You are my favorite forever!

Olivia, life would truly be a bore without you and our trusty cell phones. "How am I supposed to live without my cell phone?" You're a keeper for sure.

Ah Fani! You definitely keep me on my toes! You are a constant surprise and an invaluable babysitter! I love your brutal honesty (though sometimes it stings!) and your ability to help me always see the bright side!

My
MA! My MA! My MA! Why did Tampa claim you? You are hilarious, fun and down to earth. I love basically everything about you. (Except that your hair is prettier than mine.)

And finally
Lindsey. How could I possibly get by without my Lindsey Lou? You always always have a way to relate to what I am going thru. That isn't something you find everyday. Thank you for listening, and loving me anyway!

June is absolutely bursting with opportunities to chill with some of my favorite peeps! Like the slumber party next weekend with
this gal! So excited!!! And don't think you bloggy pals will be forgotten either! Yall know I'll be visiting (stalking) you all month too!

Bring on the girl power!!!

it's a wrap!

I have to say I have very much enjoyed the April installment of The Happiness Project! It's been pretty fun blogging every single day... (k, I missed two days but still pretty good for me)

I am so happy to have come across some really great reads during the month as well. A few of my favorite new bloggy buds are...

Windy Poplars

And the adorable Wild and Percious

Now don't think just cuz these ladies have cool little buttons that they're all fancy and too big for their britches! The opposite couldn't be more true! They are wonderful, real and down to earth, otherwise I wouldn't bother sharing.

There are so many more blogs that I absolutely adore srsly I am a TOTAL blog stalker) but more on them later.

For now, on to the May project... Working out till I'm dripping with sweat!
This couldn't come at a better time being as swimsuit season is breathing down my neck and all!

Luck to me! Now go meet these amazing bloggers!

March Happiness Project Wrap up...

So, my Happiness Project theme for the month of March was "gettin crafty." Overall I didn't craft as much as I'd like this month but what I did was fun and just what I needed to express my creative side!

Flowers for a great couples wedding... Lots of work but so much fun! I love designing floral arrangements. Flowers are involved, how can it not be awesome? Thanks again MA for teaching me everything I know! And Maranda for helping out with the boutineers!

Complete with hair accessories for the bridesmaids (thanks to a FUN night crafting w/the girls!)

A couple more headbands you've already seen for the Give Away. Hurry and enter it ends tomorrow at midnight!

A tie for my sweet baby boy using this tutorial. (Actually made this in Feb. shh.)

And a No Sew curtain!

Not bad for a month... I've still got a couple projects in the works though. Very excited for them!

As far as April goes I think I'm going with item #10 on the list "Blogging up a storm!" I'm going to try to blog most days in April... or atleast as often as I can think of something remotely interesting to say! Get ready for ALOT of me! Ok, you can have some cute cute baby too.

Also, I just wanted to thank you all for the kindness and support offered after my last post. I think it's good to be real sometimes and it's nice to know you're ok with it.

Love you,
M

the happiness project: quesas style

As an avid reader of O magazine I came across a most intriguing and challenging article a couple months back. A woman (can't remember her name but she was pretty much awesome) designed an entire year of her life around little ways of making herself, and in turn those around her happier. So, I have been inspired to begin my own little happiness project. A few weeks ago I wrote down a list of 12 simple things that make me feel good. So, each month I am going to focus on one thing from the list and really try to incorporate it into my day-to-day life.

So, for accountability's sake here's the list...

~ laughing with drew

~ gettin crafty

~ working out till I'm dripping with sweat

~ cooking really good food

~ hanging out with friends

~ looking foxy

~ being outdoors

~ reading good books

~ serving others

~ blogging up a storm

~ dancing like a wild jungle woman

~ being a great mom

I am excited to focus on the little things in life that make me smile... and hopefully I'll have some ground breaking epiphany like the woman who wrote the article and end up in O. Seriously, you should really subscribe.

But for real, I have decided to begin with the first thing on the list so for this month I will especially try to be more easily entreated and light hearted. Drew is a VERY easy going guy and is pretty darn funny so this one should be a breeze... I just gotta relax and let myself enjoy a good laugh alot more often. Maybe I'll even share some funny things that happen this month with you!

So... what's on your Happiness Project list?
