titlelessness

Blogger and Google Chrome aren't playing well together right now. At least not in my neck of the woods. Changing browsers has caused me an unjust amount of blog clog and I am at that lovely place where it's been so long since I thought aloud here that I have no idea what thoughts to spit out first.

Brother is dipping his pinky toe into the potty training pool. It's way early in my opinion but he's interested and I'm not about to shy away from the chance to be done with diapers. Last night he got out of the bath tub and headed over to the potty so I put him on. He stood on the seat a moment before  deciding a squatting position was preferable. Next thing we knew he was peeing right into (and out of) the potty! Sweet sweet beautiful success! Miles has been so anxious for Brother to actually "go" in the potty instead of just sitting on it grinning at us. He was so proud of his baby brother.

(This isn't the position he had his first major potty success in but he had just peed in the potty prior to this photo.)

Miles is a kid now. It's crazy to me and I don't know when it happened. I swear he was just a babe in my arms. Sometimes when he curls up in my lap I instinctively start to bust out a boob for him before I remember that he's not the baby around here anymore. He is learning so much so fast. I am googling and wikepedia-ing myself crazy to keep up with his curiosity. His love for learning makes me happy though. I hope it sticks around for a long long time. Maybe having two parents in school isn't such a bad thing after all.

Speaking of school. Junior year has become an all new beast. The professors are all up in my face about everything. Even tiny, seemingly unimportant mistakes matter ALOT now. Hmph. Not sure I enjoy being criticized so constantly and so thoroughly but I am learning from it so there's that I suppose. I really love the material I am reading this term. It is so interesting. Right now I am studying the relationship between society and the family; the ways one influences the other and vice versa. Good stuff. And my second class is Parent/Child Relations. Seems like a cake walk right? Wrong. But it is once again, very interesting material.

I have to say, it is nice to be able to just write and not worry about citing any sources or finding research to back up my claims. Ahhh blog. You are so so wonderful.

These days Drew is in football heaven. On Saturday's from now til January you'll find him on the couch as much as possible. I love his passion for it. I truly believe he would make a great sports caster or blogger... something like that. Dude knows some college football. I like that football is an excellent excuse for me to make  treats..... Pintrest boards here I come! We are hoping the Noles go all the way to the National Championship this year. Fingers crossed.

I am in a pretty good place tonight. I just finished up the Relief Society Broadcast. Beautiful program. Last week was a different story however. I was ready to just quit everything for a couple days there. I am busy as crap and some days it just wears me down. I am trying to remember that things change so quickly though. I try everyday to stop and savor the sweetness of my children. There are little moments through out the day when they smile at me or make me laugh and I remember why I work so hard. I want them to succeed. I want them to grow up in a stable, loving home with food on the table. I want them to help others. Not just because it's the right thing to do but because they really want to. I want them to grow up understanding that they have been blessed and to want to share those blessings with others.

I'll wrap this ramble-a-thon up with one of the poems Miles and I enjoyed at bedtime tonight.

Ations

If we meet and I say, "Hi,"
That's a salutation.
If you ask me how I feel,
That's consideration.
If we stop and talk awhile,
That's a conversation.
If we understand each other,
That's communication.
If we argue, scream and fight,
That's an altercation.
If later we apologize,
That's reconciliation.
If we help each other home,
That's cooperation.
And all these ations added up
Make civilization.

(And if I say this is a wonderful poem,
Is that exaggeration?)

- Shel Silverstein

Night all,
