Marquesas Is My Pizza

I do not like tomatoes. In my opinion, they are among the most disgusting foods you can put in your mouth. However, I am quite fond of several foods that are made out of tomatoes. I eat ketchup on a few things. I eat salsa. I eat spaghetti (occasionally). I eat pizza sauce. Pizza without the sauce is just weird. I know I think tomatoes are gross. I know tomatoes are a main ingredient in pizza sauce. Yet I love pizza. It’s strange that something that I hate so much can be totally negated by combining it with the right ingredients. In my life, I have a lot of “tomatoes” – work, chores, alarm clocks, and all kinds of things – that I don’t like. Thankfully, they’re all part of my Marquesas Pizza. When I look at life as a whole, I love it because I get to spend it with her. She’s perfect.

Seriously, she’s just about perfect. The last time she asked me “What do you wish was different about me or want me to do differently,” I had to rack my brain to come up with something. And when I did, the only thing I could think of was that sometimes she leaves the garage light on. Since then, she’s stopped leaving the garage light on. Now the next time we have that conversation I’m just going to have to say things that are too good about her. I’ll have to say, “You’re too hot. You need to dial it down a little or other girls are just gonna be jealous and guys are gonna wanna fight me for you,” or something along those lines.

I’m lucky I found someone so great who saw something in me that she wanted to spend eternity with. I’m lucky I found someone who makes me laugh every day. I’m lucky I found someone who is so great with her own kid that other people trust her with theirs. I’m lucky I found someone who makes me so happy that all I want to do is make her happy back. I’m lucky I found someone who can totally negate all of my life’s “tomatoes” and turn it into one big, delicious pizza.
