lately...

 A bit of gorgeous photography...(via)

Lately Miles is showing more and more just how brilliant he really is.
Lately he is also screeching like a dying wildebeest anytime he's in the car seat. Not good.
Lately I cry and cry and cry to Drew at night. (Pregnancy hormones?)
Lately he always always always listens and tries to fix it.
Lately I am very very very much in love with him.
Lately I have been crafting pretty things for pretty people and hoping they enjoy.
Lately a certain persons' phone calls bring guilt instead of pleasantries.
Lately the baby in my tummy is swimming wildly and weighs a whole pound!
Lately I feel the need for new curtains...again.
Lately I can't believe my baby boy is soon to be two. Two!
Lately I finally got some time with my mama. Just the two of us. We ate junk and watched a movie. Just like we always used to. Let's do that again soon please.

As you could probably tell, things have been bitter sweet around here the past few weeks. I am not good at faking a smile, not even on my blog. I generally let whatever is in me come out here, pretty or not.

With the hardships of late has come increased love from family and friends, extra adorableness from Miles, even more sympathy from my husband and  a renewed appreciation for my Savior. I suppose it is true that if we never experienced the bitter we could not fully appreciate the sweet. I have learned that lesson over and over recently. Is it so wrong to sometimes wonder, "Can I be done learning now?" Probably, but that's just the lazy in me talking.

I am glad to know just where I can turn for peace, aren't you? It's as simple as kneeling down, closing your eyes and opening your heart. It's also pretty great having a hubby who doesn't mind sharing the worries in my mis-connected brain. :0)

time is the school in which we learn, time is the fire in which we burn.

Ok, so we parents haven't really changed too much but this was fun for me anyway. I love being able to look back through our pictures and see what life was like exactly one year ago.
Maybe you should try it too!

alive.

(Because just like Carly says "nobody does it better")

So I was spared the drill yesterday at the old dentist office but I didn't escape completely unscathed.

I am losing a tooth. Today. These so called oral surgeons are going to rip it out of my head at 3pm. Well, that's what they say anyway. They may just "consult" me and send me home to make yet another appointment to mutilate my mouth. Oh the mind games they play.

Dentists.

When I got the news in the scary uncomfortable dentist chair yesterday I just burst out laughing.

The hygienist (sweetest lady EVER) who had earlier been so kind  to respect my wishes when I asked her NOT to poke me with the metal scrapey thing)  asked what was so funny then turned back to her typing.

"I am officially white trash." I said.

Fingers clacking keyboard...

"Yep," she says.

I laugh some more, even harder now.

"Wait! What did you just say? Sorry!!!!" She was mortified that she had just accidentally agreed her patient was Poor White Trash.

Best moment in a dentists office ever.

You probably think I am being overly dramatic about the whole dentist thing but I promise you, I am an anti-dentite thru and thru.  If I didn't need them so dang much I would seriously boycott. I am the most ungrateful dental patient the world has ever known and I don' foresee  and changes to that in the near future.

So I'll be back in the chair today at 3pm. Maybe or maybe not getting my mouth ripped apart. A prayer or two would be nice.

Just sayin.

change is the only constant.

Miles is officially in nursery. (See, when kids turn 18 months in our church they leave their mamas and daddy's during church and attend their own special Sunday school class. Nursery) I guess he has been for a month now but it's officially sinking in. It's sinking in deep. Way down in this sappy, mush-lined, candy filled  mommy heart of mine.

I love to see him having fun and interacting with all the other kids and the sweet sweet nursery leaders but at the same time it kills me to leave him.  How do people do this? Watch their kids grow up I mean. I feel like every milestone he meets is this inner conflict between euphoria and torture. I'm happy for his success and that he's becoming such a wonderful little boy but I am so so so torn apart by how fast it's all happening.

Then, after church as I was sitting cuddling my husband and wonderful baby boy I couldn't help but think. "Perfect. Things really couldn't be better than they are right this moment." But things are constantly changing! Miles is getting bigger and we are getting older and nothing is staying the same!

I know there's nothing to do but enjoy every remaining second of his sweet babyhood and this blessed season of our lives. I just can hardly think about how fast he's growing without tearing up.

Am I alone in this or are there other people out there that are just so darn happy with the way certain things about their lives are that they don't EVER want them to change?

on monday.

Did you ever have one of those days when you just feel perfect? The house is spotless, the kids are angels, dinner's on the table when hubby walks throuugh the door and you're standing there smiling, hair done, make-up fresh... perfect.

Yeah, me neither.

But I like to think you love me anyway.

Happy Monday!
